I love and hate this kind of shelter. I love the shelter cause it's fairly easy to make. I hate it though cause the wind and rain could blow into the shelter even if you carefully thought about the wind's direction.

These shows are interesting, but the ultimate survival challenge doesn't involve random wilderness scenarios that few people actually get into. The opposite is generally true; crime and mayhem caused by TOO MANY people in one's vicinity. The world is facing some major problems like Peak Oil, AGW, water shortages, etc. Surviving the mindless overcrowding of humanity is our biggest hurdle. We can't keep growing the population & economy on a finite planet and expect to maintain stability.

Interesting trick but does it work if your battery is dead? Will your battery ever hold a charge after this? Are you supposed to walk around with steel wool? (Maybe. Not much extra weight or space for so small a piece but) I'd probably advise people to practice with dry brush tinder material. Wetfire is great for a 1-time use item in wet conditions but natural kindling material is way more renewable and if you're smart you'll collect some BEFORE it starts raining.

Works very well with a nine volt battery also. So you can carry battery and brillo pad in your pack or you can just use matches or a lighter.

This isn't actually applicable to be used safely as a stove because the inside of EVERY can is painted with a layer of chemical (possibly preservative or corrosion inhibitor) to prevent the actual metal of the can from reacting with the food stored inside it and contaminating it thus being a hazard to humans if consumed. Unless you can remove the inside layer or perhaps wrap an aluminum foil around the inside of the can, it is not a safe or healthy option to follow in a survival situation.

OK, one more time. I got up this morning and no wind, so before I even had coffee I ran out and stoked my stove, cheated and used a propane torch to light it and put the lid on with my canteen cup on top. The lid kept choking off the flame so I set a couple of 3/4" sticks under the lid to hold it up. I tried to keep it stoked but feeding it thru the flue hole was tedious and after every feeding I had to blow it with a straw. After about 10 min, I had tiny bubbles in the cup. Rate: marginal.

OK, back again. I tried making this stove, used tin snips instead of scissors but got 'er done anyway. Went outside to test it and ran into an unexpected snag. I realized that it is useless.....in a high wind situation. So this is going to need a wind shield to keep it from scattering sparks or even fire all over the country side. Otherwise, still have high hopes for it when the wind dies down this evening...,,if it does. I still like the design and can't wait to try it out. Cheers....

I am pregnant and watching this put me in tears. I do know, after having two children that as soon as possible they should learn to swim and it isn't always pleasant. I taught both of my boys to swim starting as soon as they were a month old. I started very slow. By the time they could swim really well and grab the side of the pool they were about a year and then I deployed the swimming with clothes thing. This video freaked me out. I watched your vids bec I am want to purchase a fixed blade survival knife. I noticed that you're sometimes generous in your reviews, like you'll overlook a negative stated in other vids. For ex: you mentioned that you like this handle, yet, you like a MUCH larger handle in other vids. Thumb notches are a wanted feature but you'll say "that's okay" bec the Ontario RTAK doesn't have it. You even sharpen new blades. @creamneuron both extremely similar, but if i were to choose i would probably get the esee (rat cutlery) 6 because rat cutlery has a no question asked warranty, where even if you intentionally break your knife, you can send it back and get it replaced, and i think the quality of rat cutlery is better than Ontario. they also come with a kydex sheath which is also better than the cordura with kydex liner the rat 7 comes with. (unless you want D2, that only comes with rat-7)

@RatongaBruiser Oh gosh, I hate the dizziness! Periods can really eff with your body, one time, I was so dizzy after getting out of the bath I passed out on the floor for a while. All I know is it was morning when I got in there and the moon was up when I got out O_O It really is awful. A warning to menfolk: Never - NEVER - underestimate the symptoms of PMS (at least not to her face). This vital mistake can and will cost you your manberries.

too funny! :)oh and to all those who say you can avoid PMS and that women use it as an excuse. its actually a fluctuation of hormones, and com'on guys you use hormones as an excuse for things too. for example your sex drives or sports and the need for physical competition(even war). Things come naturally to both sexes. i dont use PMS as an excuse, but i know during that time i am more impatient, and usually in pain, so i try to stay alone and not make others suffer :) and apologize for blowups
