@breto314 that's fairly true, but dementia is a cause of death since it is a syndrome consisting of multiple diseases- Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Lewy Body, etc. Dementia causes death because it causes brain cells to be killed off, so while it is affecting the memory by causing memory cells to die, it also causes other places in the brain to be affected and cell's to die off, such as parts that control major organs.

This news story is ridiculous. One doesn't die from dementia, so to speak, it is a final stage in life. People forget that death is inevitability and that no matter how much medicine or treatment one can receive one will eventually expire. Although dementia is taxing on the family, it is a, somewhat, natural way to die. You go out the same way you come in. talking gibberish and shitting your pants in a stroller. It is tough but natural. Considering how long people are living now. But then again.

Oh some fine examples of poor practice when working with people with dementia. If any of the carers I train took to wrestling with someone that was upset or shining torches in their eyes I might suggest a change of career. The husband could do with a bit of support in coping with the situation too, rather than being stared at suspiciously. I never seen the film though, may be over all it's a lovely film. I just hate the perpetuation of myths about how people with dementia should be/are treated

I can only just say. I work with dementia for years and it's nothing like in that clip. Unfortunatly, it would be wonderfull if it was, but that's just perhaps early stages. Later on it all changes. And is much more sad.

Theres a reason nature makes you die before this disease takes its full tole, its called mercy. Im witnessing what this disease can do and dying in your sleep, having a heart attack, even getting shot in the head is a much better way to go then letting the disease progress until your overwhelmed by the severe horrible effects, after a point your just keeping a body alive, all there is inside is a tortured soul that shouldve died a while ago. If you get this disease, do not take the medicine.

I work in one of these care homes, and some of these people would be better off dead, and I'm not being horrible here, Ive seen the lifes of these people sitting in a chair stairing at the wall all day long day in day out. I feel so sorry for them. The families could do what we did and shackle Dad to a tree next to a bucket of water and a bowl of oatmeal. It was for his own safety. At night we'd bring him in and chain him to a pole in the basement. Also, we bought a dog from the animal shelter that followed Dad around - you know....saved on diapers. He was fine with it and we didn't have to bother with a nursing home. We could keep Dad at home in the loving bosom of family. And family is what's truly important.

This is really very sad to see and it touches home on a personal level as well. My great-grandmother suffered from Alzheimer's disease. I do think there should be more exposure into these diseases and more research into finding better treatments and hopefully a cure for them. Its about time these diseases were got more attention.

My grandmom cries constantly because one moment she is communicating with fake people, in a completely different place. My mother has Alzheimers, and is at a point in her life where she is virtually in her own little world. And it is getting harder and harder to get through to her. Most of the time she can't even communicate and you can understand her, just a jumble of words. It has been like hell on my dad, she doesn't even know who he is. And we recently had to move her in with my sister so she can get around the clock care by my sister and my moms nurse. Its a tough road, we have to remember the good times :)

Great early Coppola. In the opening sequence I caught myself wanting to hold my breath as the deceased guy sank to the lake bottom. Also, effective use of lighting. I couldn't help but smile when the guy was having a heart attack and the woman comes to his aid all the while continuing to hold her cigarette. Trivial point, I know, but it only adds to the charm of the film. If I'm correct, William Castle's "Straight Jacket" came out a year or two earlier featuring an axe wielding Joan Crawford.

What's gonna happen in Dead Space 2 is that they find Isaac floating in the shuttle, and they take him back to a space station. They ask him about everything that happened, and they think he's gone insane. (He kinda has with dementia and PTSD) They put him in a mental hospital where he stays for about 3 years. Anyway, somehow the infection spreads to the station and you actually see the chaos start from the very beginning. The quote at 1:09 must be after they realize he was telling the truth.

@livingmylifeatmach2 it happened to me for the whole first half of the game then i was like whatever fuck it, and i just ran through every door and it got rid of some of the paranoia and some of the scariness
